Who We Are
Annual Report

The USO of Metropolitan Washington saw tremendous success and growth in 2011!

This has been a remarkable year for the USO of Metropolitan Washington! From improvements to its centers, to an increase in the number of people served by its airports, to new programs, and more events for the Mobile USO, USO-Metro has seen growth across the organization. There has been much excitement and anticipations as we partner with our national headquarters to break ground for a new, state-of-the-art USO Family Center at Fort Belvoir. We are also looking ahead to another Family Center at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda. These two locations will enable USO-Metro to enhance and expand its programs and services for not only our recovering heroes and their families, but for all we serve.

In light of the economic downturn, our troops need us now more than ever. We will continue to grow our services for wounded warriors, as well as our emergency programs for military families in the area. In support of the Department of Defense's draw down efforts, we will expand opportunities for returning to troops to reconnect with their loved ones and communities through welcome home celebrations and expanded family programs.

Fiscal year 2011 marked the 70th anniversary for USO-Metro. This organization is proud to serve one of the largest military populations in the world, and we could not do that without the support of our dedicated volunteers and the local community. Because of this support, USO-Metro was able to provide more than 1 million instances of service to active duty military and their families in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan region. For this, we sincerely thank you!
